The enticement of gimmicky "buy one, get two free" promotions for national bra brands has been a cash cow at department stores for over a decade — but the promotional frenzy appears to be losing its magic.

It's Wednesday afternoon, and jeweler Lisa Salzer of Lulu Frost is showing off her brand-new Lafayette Street penthouse studio — Exhibit A of her company's recent growth spurt, complete with skylight, antiques and a gorgeous view of downtown Manhattan.
Italian watch and jewelry group Morellato & Sector SpA reported an almost fourfold increase in net profit for 2007, driven by sales of the Morellato brand, a turnaround of the Sector label and the acquisition of jewelry retail chain Diffusione Italiana Preziosi.

After a strong showing on the fall runways in New York and Europe, designers and retailers continue to be passionate about legwear — and their optimism extends all the way into the holiday season.
