Bringing a prestigious new eyewear partnership into focus, Boucheron on Wednesday unveiled its first sunglasses and optical collection with Gold & Wood.

PARIS — Bringing a prestigious new eyewear partnership into focus, Boucheron on Wednesday unveiled its first sunglass and optical collection with Gold & Wood in the run-up to the Silmo eyewear trade fair that opens here today.

The pact marks the first license for Gold & Wood, an upscale Luxembourg-based eyewear firm which specializes in handmade frames made from exotic woods, buffalo horn and other precious metals. Boucheron, part of Gucci Group, ended its six-year eyewear license with Italy’s Safilo Group SpA in 2008.

Jean-Christophe Bedos, Boucheron’s chief executive, said he pursued the new deal to further underscore the house’s haute positioning.

“We sought to find a partner that shared our values for artisanal excellence,” he said.

Bedos described the range as a diffusion line, with some exclusive high-jewelry eyewear styles in the pipeline. Crafted primarily from horn, wood and lightweight metals in colors like cherry red and brown, the no-logo frames carry subtle decorative references to Boucheron jewelry, such as rounded ribbing, fluting or peacock feathers carved into the arms. Two frames from the latter story are available in five micron gold-plated versions. Certain models are inlaid with diamonds.

The collection, which includes men’s and women’s styles, will be distributed in select opticians worldwide starting later this year. Sunglass styles will be available in Boucheron stores from March. Retail prices range from 438 to 990 euros, or about $640 to $1,450 at current exchange.
