PARIS — Chanel and Luxottica continue seeing eye-to-eye.
The French couture house said Thursday it has renewed its license agreement with the $10 billion Luxottica Group “for the exclusive distribution, development, manufacture and worldwide distribution of Chanel prescription frames and sunglasses through December 31, 2018.”
The license is renewable until the end of 2020.
Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel, lauded the partnership as a tool “to develop eyewear that is creative and of the highest quality,” helped by Luxottica’s expertise and distribution network.
Luxottica’s chief executive officer Andrea Guerra commented: “We are extremely pleased with this strategic agreement for our group which marks the further extension of an already long-standing relationship between our two companies [that] dates back to 1999 with the launch of Chanel’s first-ever eyewear collections.”
Luxottica’s license business covers brands such as Burberry, Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, Prada and Versace.
