Christian Roth is partnering with Korean-based eyewear firm BCD Korea Co. Ltd. to produce and distribute Christian Roth sunglasses and prescription frames throughout Asia.
Effective this month, the five-year deal includes the option to renew after 2016.
Christian Roth, which is the first eyewear label to be inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America, will introduce its 2012 collection to Asian retailers at Tokyo’s International Optical Fair this week. Late last month, the collection was shown at Paris’ Silmo trade show.
“To design a collection with true Asian fit for this region is an exciting challenge,” said Eric Domège, partner at the 27-year-old luxury eyewear firm.
“Christian Roth has never presented in Asia at its fullest potential. It is our goal to make Christian Roth a major player in the Asian market,” added Min Suk Kang, BCD owner and chief executive officer. “We believe that the well-grounded and mature artistic sense of the brand combined with our imagination, expertise in the region and the Asian taste for luxury will yield successful results.”
A new Joan Rivers coffee table book, titled “Joan Rivers Confidential,” gives readers never-before-seen photos and letters of the late comedian throughout her life. “Because of her drive to always be fresh, she kept records of every appearance, every performance, all the jokes that were used on TV, all the clothes that were worn,” said Rivers’ daughter Melissa.
