MILAN — Luxottica Group and Prada said Wednesday they had renewed a licensing agreement for the production and distribution of eyewear under the Prada and Miu Miu monikers until December 31, 2018.
The license had first been signed in July 2003.
Andrea Guerra, chief executive officer of Luxottica, stated: "We are delighted to be able to confirm the collaboration between two icons of Italian excellence, continuing along the path of success and mutual satisfaction in all the markets in which we operate."
In addition to its own house brands Ray-Ban and Oakley among others, Luxottica produces eyewear collections for brands includingBurberry, Chanel, Coach, Ralph Lauren and Versace.
At the same time, as rival eyewear maker Marcolin finalized its sale to Cristallo SpA, controlled by PAI Partners, it said it had renewed its own licenses with Roberto Cavalli (also for the Just Cavalli brand) and Kenneth Cole until 2020 and 2016, respectively.
The board said that Giovanni Zoppas was taking on the role of chairman, in addition to his current post as ceo and general director, as Giovanni Marcolin Coffenhad resigned. Maurizio Coffen Marcolin and shareholders Andrea and Diego Della Valle had also resigned as administrators of the board.Marcolin produces collections under license for brands including Balenciaga, Tod's, Hogan, Tom Fordand DSquared 2 among others, in addition to its own brands Marcolin andWeb Eyewear.
Yesterday, the Parisian fashion house @azzaro_official cut the ribbon on a temeporary retrospective at the wing of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The exhibition, which shows the lasting influence of the brand’s founder Loris Azzaro, is titled “Azzaro, Fifty Sparkling Years” and presents 50 looks. @americanapparelusa is relaunching the brand outside of the U.S. today, opening its online store to more than 200 countries. The company is also contemplating a return to brick-and-mortar, though details have not been confirmed.
