MILAN — Safilo Group and Max Mara Group said Thursday they have renewed their licensing agreement for the design, production and worldwide distribution of both optical frames and sunglasses under the Max Mara and Max&Co. labels until Dec. 31, 2019.
The license had first been inked in 1997.
“We are extremely proud to announce the renewal of this agreement, which further validates the strength of our collaboration with the Max MaraGroup,” stated Safilo Group chief executive officer Roberto Vedovotto. “We are honored to be associated with such a successful company in continuous expansion and we are committed to taking major steps forward to further reinforce thepresence of Max Mara and Max&Co. within the worldwide eyewear scenario”.
“The re-launch of the partnership with the Safilo Group will give us the possibility to develop in an even more remarkable way our presence in the eyewear sector, respecting the values of excellence and tradition that both the companies embrace,” stated Max Mara Group chairman Luigi Maramotti.
Safilo, which owns a number of house brands, including Safilo, Carrera, Polaroid, Smith Optics, Oxydo and Blue Bay, also produces and distributes the eyewear collections of several international fashion labels, such as Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Céline, Christian Dior, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Yves Saint Laurent.
