Take comfort, ladies. Footwear relief is on the way, in the shape of shoes that are both wearable and chic this season.
Actually, the trend has been brewing for a few seasons now, stemming from Céline’s launch of a high-tone version of the classic Vans slip-on. But for fall, the market is awash in easygoing, easy-on-the-feet interpretations, from slip-ons and sneakers (high-top or low) to shower-slide styles. Plus, some innovative looks, such as Christopher Kane’s cross between a sneaker and a mule that sports a cozy fur upper.
As such hybrids suggest, comfortable doesn’t have to mean anonymous. Another case in point: Missoni’s new sneakers, bedecked in one of the house’s characteristic multi-colored prints. Like the rest of the new crop, these are shoes you can literally take in stride.
