Could they be the world’s mostcomfortable high heels? BE&D creative director Steve Dumain hopesso. His new ivory canvas Big City pump silhouette sneaker — an extensionto the brand’s existing shoe line and born from a collaboration withvisual artist Trong Gia Nguyen — is emblazoned with a teetering stilettoin either shocking pink, turquoise, orange, gold or black.

“Totell you the truth, all I wear are sneakers — I’ve always wanted to bein the sneaker world. I felt there was something missing in this part ofhigh fashion: women wearing high heels and being comfortable at thesame time,” Dumain said. “I wanted to make the world’s first flatstiletto.”

So far, Colette in Paris, Shopbop, Luisa Via Roma andthe brand’s e-commerce site, beandd.com, will carry the designer’sfirst pair of trainers, starting next week. Retailing for $128 a pair(compared with $175 to $585 for the spring shoe collection), Dumain iseager to expand this accessible component of his accessories business.He also made the sneakers in men’s sizes for hipster mecca AlterBrooklyn,in Williamsburg.

“It’s a play on the eye,” he said,noting he plans to add to the group in the fall.
