British shoe designer Thomas Murphy is giving a new shine to an age-old metal: copper. Murphy, who launched his first collection last fall, uses the metal for the heels of his handmade shoes. “They change from virgin pink to oranges, reds, purples, blues and greens,” says Murphy, who has worked with designers Ann-Sofie Back and Robert Cary-Williams before going solo.
The collection of nine styles of pumps, handmade in one of London’s few remaining shoe factories, sells at Last in Brighton ($500 to $700, +44.127.377.7141) and lastfootwear.com.
