Picture a shoe with a small pair of silver hands gripping its heel, or glass eyes on its toes. It may sound like the sort of madcap object Salvador Dalí might have once produced, but jewelry designer Delfina Delettrez is the brains behind the concept, having hooked up with Italian shoe guru Giuseppe Zanotti for a capsule collection under the Giuseppe Zanotti for Delfina Delettrez banner. Dubbed “Arty Shoes,” the line is being presented here today at l’Espace Rabih Kayrouz, along with Delettrez’s latest jewelry collection, “My World.” Five Surrealist-like designs — a bootie, two pairs of heels, a sandal and a ballet flat — are sprinkled with bronze, silver and glass pieces from Delettrez’s “Anatomik” jewelry collection. The shoes are all black, save for the aforementioned pair-of-eyes style that comes in bicolor variations. For Delettrez, who has already collaborated with Causse for a glove line, and Alain Mikli for jeweled eyewear, footwear was a natural next step. “I wanted to experiment in a new sector and I’ve always loved shoes,” said the designer, who has baptized each pair with cheeky names such as Face to Face or Watch Your Step. Prices range from $1,000 to $1,600.
