At his Mercer Street loft on Thursday, Alejandro Ingelmo delivered more of his exquisitely made, drop-dead sexy shoes. Highlights included sky-high gladiator-style sandals and peep-toe booties in woven metallics and genuine exotics (as opposed to embossed ones in the past). Other standouts had bullet-shaped hardware on ankle straps and yokes of shoes. Ingelmo, a Miami native who followed his family’s legacy into the shoe business, also offered his classic Thriller style, now in a flat, as well as bags that reflect some of the shoe styles.
The next day, Manolo Blahnik was at Bergdorf Goodman autographing the infamous blue stilettos (of “Sex and the City” fame) that are exclusive to the store. But he was unfazed by the hordes of fans. “This is nothing,” he exclaimed while waving his hand at the crowd. “I am here to entertain.” He did seem surprised, however, that his classic pump is still creating a stir and proclaimed: “I hate platforms. They’re vulgar!”
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
