It’s quite easy to feel like a kid in a candy store at Roger Vivier, even when the house is only showing a small collection of its newest offerings. This season, designer Bruno Frisoni gave fresh interpretations to some of Vivier’s iconic pieces in combination with a modern-art inspiration, creating a collection that was just that — art. Collages by Roger Vivier himself gave way to a striking group of graphic prism bags and shoes in beautiful skins with a touch of origami construction. One of Frisoni’s favorite pieces was the Wallis bag, inspired by a Sixties style originally created for the Duchess of Windsor. This and a number of other handbags were designed to transition from day to evening. Other highlights in this wide-ranging collection: lavish jewelry in clusters of turquoise with metal fringe, along with necklaces, bracelets and rings with graphic flowers; beautifully embellished bags and shoes, and a very sexy stiletto adorned with a stylized wave, fashioned after a shoe designed for Cristóbal Balenciaga in the late Sixties.
