Brothers Andrew and Alex Hong, the second generation in their family-owned glove manufacturer Imex Industries, private label makers of professional athletic gloves, are launching their first lifestyle brand, a line of luxury fashion-meets-technology gloves called Honns.

Combining the company’s patented patent leather — known for its gripping properties favored by Tom Brady and Tiger Woods — with soft lamb leather and high-tech fabrics, Honns offers men’s and women’s gloves with touch-screen capabilities in the index fingers and thumbs.

Offered in an array of colors, textures and prints, all lined with high-pile fleece, the gloves wholesale for $44 and $58 and will launch in specialty retailers such as United Arrows come fall.

“After making gloves for so many brands over the years, we wanted to use that experience and energy for something we could call our own,” said Andrew Hong. “The sports glove market changes every year. We work on new concepts and designs that are always pushing the bar. We felt bringing that sensibility and perspective into a stale product is exactly the jolt this category needs.”

The holiday collection will include guest designers, spring 2015 will feature lighter-weight styles with perforated leather and future plans include other types of leather accessories.
