Meltin’ Pot, Manhattan Portage in Co-branded Venture

Will be carried by European retailers beginning in spring 2014.

MILAN — Italian denim brand Meltin’ Pot and U.S. accessories brand Manhattan Portage said this week they are collaborating on a limited-edition accessories collection, which will be available through select European retailers in early spring 2014.

The assortment includes a variety of totes, a tablet case, a backpack and a messenger bag, for sale either in indigo denim or in a mustard yellow using 1000 Denier Cordura nylon fabric. Prices will range from 49 to 189 euros, or about $64 to $246 at current exchange rates.

“When thinking about a line of Meltin’ Pot inspired bags and accessories, the style and quality of the products that Manhattan Portage produces mirror everything I had in mind,” said Meltin’ Pot chief executive officer Augusto Romano, noting that the two companies were well-aligned in terms of style and target consumers.

“This is our first collaboration with an authentic Italian denim brand and it represents a unique opportunity to reach out to denim lovers in Italy and beyond,” said Jerome Michaux, Manhattan Portage’s international sales and marketing manager.

Founded in 1983, Manhattan Portage is best known for its trendy urban messenger bags, each of which has a red label with the Manhattan skyline stitched on it. Meltin’ Pot, which produces denim for about 10 clients in addition to developing its own brand, has been under the creative direction of Leopoldo Durante since November 2012.
