NEW YORK — Get your baskets ready — Fabergé’s Big Egg Hunt is coming to New York.
The event, beginning April 1, will see more than 250 unique egg sculptures placed around New York’s five boroughs. Each fiberglass egg, standing 30 inches tall and 22 inches wide, has been commissioned to an individual designer, artist or architect. Carolina Herrera, Cynthia Rowley, DKNY, Diane von Furstenberg, Marchesa, Olivier Theyskens, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger are among the participants representing the fashion community. Additional artists include Mark Quinn, Curtis Kulig, Clifford Ross, Laurent de Brunhoff and Matthew Weinstein. Eggs will be displayed in areas of high pedestrian traffic, such as Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center and Times Square. “Hunters” are encouraged to track their findings for a chance to win weekly prizes. A smartphone app is currently in development.
