In a darkened room at the Dior Joaillerie headquarters, a pair of gold cobras on glittering hot pink Bollywood hoops guard bindilike gems and the pale green opals dangling below them. Elsewhere, on a ring, a carved pink tourmaline rabbit pops up from among a group of fire-opal pumpkins. Such delights are some of the 116 jewelry items gathered for the house’s biennial preview, offering a panorama of pieces Victoire de Castellane has designed since her first collection in 1999. More classic fare among the 13 new creations to debut at the event includes the Précieuses Rose set in white gold and diamonds and the fancy Butterfly of Paradise ring from the Les Incroyables et Merveilleuses line, which boasts a deep purple amethyst.
