Everything is possible in the world of Marnie Greenwood. In six years, the Houston-based designer of Marnie Rocks jewelry and accessories has gone from making necklaces at her kitchen table to owner of a budding lifestyle brand with an A-list clientele including Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba. Not even the weather can slow her down.
When Hurricane Ike displaced her family of six for about three months, Greenwood channeled the experience into a new collection for spring. Marnie Rocks has always been quirky and playful, but the Ike-inspired line has more edge. “All of the materials I’m using are things you would discover if things were turned over, like the tree that fell in front of my house — lots of natural rock, odd shapes, mixing bright silk cord with stones. It’s very organic, really glamorous.”
