‘Once Upon a Time’ Spawns Jewelry Collection

Cheryl Finnegan created a jewelry collection inspired by ABC’s hit fairy-tale drama.

DALLAS — Considering Cheryl Finnegan chose a Dracula theme for her wedding and dispatched the invitations in mini coffins, it wasn’t a stretch for the Virgins Saints & Angels designer to create a jewelry collection inspired by ABC’s hit fairy-tale drama “Once Upon a Time.”

Finnegan said she’s “obsessed” with the show. “Secretly, I design tiaras that I don’t really sell. I wear them. I have this secret fetish thing with headgear,” she said.

Now she has a few crowns for sale in the Once Upon a Time collection of mixed metal, Swarovski Elements and glass pearl jewelry. It’s divided into two groups: Snow White-inspired dainty silver filigree styles including a best-selling three-strand pearl and crystal lasso necklace, while the younger collection of 24-karat-gold dipped looks embellished with daggers, spiders and dragons takes after the Evil Queen. Snow White outsold the Evil Queen recently at the collection’s retail debut at Swag at NorthPark Center.

“It is the first time ABC has produced an accessory to go with a TV program,” Finnegan noted. “They are looking for a halo effect — something to make them look cool and hit boutiques.”
