Montblanc’s 18-karat white gold fountain pen is studded with eight carats worth of diamonds and rubies as a tribute to Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who died in 2005. Only 81 pieces are available—the age reached by the sovereign. The pen, which retails for a whopping $293,000, is available at Montblanc boutiques worldwide.
For a mere $22,000, Italian luxury brand Montegrappa has launched a limited edition Portrait Pen, which allows customers to choose any image they wish to be carved onto the shaft with a traditional diamond engraving manual technique requiring two months of detailed work by a craftsman. Available in white or rose gold, the pens are sold at Bergdorf Goodman.
