The inspiration for Cameo by RUX came when designer Russell Greenberg was shopping for a wedding ring for his wife. Get ready to swoon, girls. “I asked myself the simple question, ‘What would the most perfect wedding ring look like?’ ” explained Greenberg. “The answer was easy… it would look like my wife.” This idea became the process whereby a profile photograph can be uploaded to the company’s Web site, where its outline is made into resin bangles (stacked at left) or rings in 18-karat gold and platinum, retailing from $350 to $4,000. No stranger to design, Greenberg graduated from Yale School of Architecture in 2006, receiving its prestigious H.I. Feldman Prize, and then moved on to work on the design of Nurai, a resort island off the coast of Abu Dhabi that is currently under construction, at Studio Dror. In 2008, he founded RUX Design, which has credits that range from a luxury vending machine called U*tique to vodka bottles to the Vanishing Mosque in the United Arab Emirates.
