Nancy Gonzalez is expanding her exotic skin offerings for the fashionable jet-setter.

Starting today, Gonzalez’s 11-piece, crocodile-skin travel line will launch exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman.
Santiago Gonzalez, president of Nancy Gonzalez (and the designer’s son), said the line came out of practical needs.
“Mother and I are always traveling, and it made no sense to buy other people’s luggage,” he said. “But it was very hard to design…we didn’t want heavy luggage. We wanted perfect luggage.”
The collection includes iPad covers, passport cases and rolling suitcase trolleys. A passport case will retail for $600, with an average price of $8,000 for suitcases.
The brand has taken precautions to ensure the suitcases’ durability.
“The huge secret is in the way we backed the skin,” Santiago Gonzalez said. “We backed it in powerful, waterproof nylon…and the wheels and insides are made of titanium.”
