Holly Fulton has become the latest London fashion designer to create a limited edition series of illustrated books, 2011 diaries and stationery for the British brand Smythson.

Fulton, a former designer for Lanvin who now shows her signature collection in London, follows in the pen-and-ink trail of Giles Deacon, Erdem and Matthew Williamson, all of whom have created limited edition products for the Bond Street stationer and leather goods brand.
“Drawing is one of my guilty pleasures and I’ll take any excuse to spend longer doing it,” said Fulton, whose collection will land in Smythson stores at the end of October. “I am heavily influence by materials, so was delighted to have the chance to work in a different medium.”
The collection features Fulton’s signature Art Deco-inspired illustrations engraved on colored leather and paper. The collection comes in the designer’s favorite color combinations of black with yellow and pale aqua. All books and diaries are lined in white silk with a black geometric print from Fulton’s fall collection.
The collaborations are the brainchild of Samantha Cameron, Britain’s new first lady and Smythson’s creative adviser, who is a strong supporter of young British talent.
“We were keen to work with Holly, as we felt her original, very strong graphic designs would work well with the simplicity of our books, diaries and stationery,” said Cameron. “Our collaboration with Holly marks the continuation of Smythson’s exciting work with young British design talent.”
