Miami-based accessories brand Miansai, best known for its leather cord and hook bracelets, will today introduce timepieces exclusively at barneys.com and miansai.com.
The three watch styles — the M1, a perpetual; the M2, a chronograph, and the M3, an automatic — contain Japanese and Chrono Quartz movements and retail from $355 to $500.
“A lot of watchmakers focus their pieces around a lifestyle they are trying to sell: racer, pilot, thrill seeker, etc. I wanted to make watches that didn’t lean towards any of that [but] rather were just good-looking, classic and ageless styles that anyone and everyone could wear regardless of the occasion,” Miansai founder and creative director Michael Saiger said, pointing out that certain details in the timepieces are reflective of the brand’s other categories.
The watches’ second hand is a small hook, the same motif found in the brand’s top selling wrap bracelets, and the crown was developed from the screw cuff. The bands, also much like the bracelets, are fashioned from leather, customized ribbon and rope or combinations of these. Available in almost 60 combinations, including cognac, black, navy and cappuccino leather, as well as black, green, navy and red rope, each water resistant piece is 39 mm. in diameter.
Originally marketed as a men’s line, women have equally gravitated to Miansai’s bracelets, which are now carried in 250 doors in 26 countries worldwide such as Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Colette, Liberty and Selfridges.
