Movado has chosen to mine the stealth Seventies for the first in its Collector’s Edition series.
The company updated an original design from 1970 for its Movado Series 800 Datron Chronograph, which hit stores this month. It features a tonneau-shaped case made of solid Performance Steel and a stark two-tone dial treatment. The timepiece flaunts today’s technologies with a 42-hour power reserve and a 37-jewel ETA, self-winding movement. It retails for $2,990.
“Our brand has always looked to create new interpretations of classic timepieces,” says Efraim Grinberg, Movado Group Inc. chairman, president and chief executive officer. “The timeless design of this new chronograph is relevant to current fashion trends and sensibilities. It is really about a watch that took a vacation and is now coming back — here today and here tomorrow.”
