TechnoMarine Taps Jacques-Philippe Auriol for CEO Post

He has an extensive history in the luxury world, including stints as ceo of Gucci Group Watches.

NEW YORK — TechnoMarine has appointed Jacques-Philippe Auriol chief executive officer. He succeeds Vincent Perriard, who left the company in November after an 18-month tenure. Auriol has an extensive history in the luxury world, including stints as ceo of Gucci Group Watches, chief operating officer of the watchmaking division at Compagnie Financière Richemont and ceo of Baume & Mercier. He most recently worked as an independent luxury goods consultant for his own firm, JPA Consulting.

Christian Viros, chairman of TechnoMarine, said, “Jacques-Philippe comes with substantial experience in the watch business and very strong credentials as a manager in that sector.”

Viros, a highly respected industry figure, is said to have clashed with the larger-than-life Perriard, who, in his short time at TechnoMarine, is credited with turning around the faltering brand with a lineup of new products and an innovative social media campaign. Company spokesmen insisted the split was amicable.

At year’s end, TechnoMarine reported sales were up 31 percent. The brand recently unveiled a new interactive Web site that allows users to design their own watch, and there are plans to include e-commerce capability in the near future.
