PARIS — Beauty at the Dior show was minimalist, in line with the house’s fall 2012 fashion collection.
“It’s moving on ahead and establishing a kind of new look here,” hairstylist Orlando Pita said backstage before the show. He gave models a side part and a long, straight ponytail. Even for those with extensions, the idea was to keep it real.
“I don’t want it to look like a big, thick ponytail,” said Pita, who just used hairspray.
Makeup artist Pat McGrath aimed to make models appear “simply beautiful and luxurious.” She softly applied a mink color around eyes and a hint of gold on lids. Mascara was brushed on top and bottom lashes, while brows were groomed and cheeks given a tinge of blush. Lips remained nude.
“It’s a luxe and slightly minimalist feeling for Dior this season,” McGrath explained.
