Coinciding with the hologram sunglasses Phillip Lim crafted for his collection, Francelle Daly for Nars Cosmetics created a similar iridescent texture for the makeup. “It’s my new take on summer glow,” said Daly. “I wanted to do a monochromatic, techno glow.”

She began by mixing Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer with Copacabana Illuminator and applying it to the face. Then, using Multiple in Luxor, she applied it on the eyes, the bridge of the nose, the bow of mouth, the chin and the cheekbones to create an opalescent effect. “It’s not too cyber,” said Daly. “And it’s not alien.”

To amplify it for the runway, she used Duo Eyeshadow in Iridescent Icy Blue Side of Iceland and applied it on top of everywhere she had patted Luxor. For some added light, she placed a tiny bit of Kauai Duo Eyeshadow in Gold Lamé in the crease. She curled the lashes and applied Lengthening Larger Than Life Mascara on the top and bottom. Topping off the lip, Daly dabbed Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Années Folles, which launches in spring 2014.

Environmental elements like rain, wind, sea and the sun influenced the hair this season. Paul Hanlon for Osis made it appear like thin dreadlocks to create a savage beauty. “[The hair] is almost eroding and very weathered,” said Hanlon. “Slightly shipwrecked. Sort of like Robinson Crusoe.”

Forming an organic texture, Hanlon began by wetting the hair and applying Grip Strong Hold Mousse to the entire head. Then, with Twin Curl Cream, he coated midlength to the ends to give it a piece-y separation. He fashioned a messy part on the right side of the head and pulled the hair across the forehead and tucked strands behind the left ear.

Next, using a diffuser, he blow dried the hair and separated it into two sections. Then, he tied them into a fishing knot and pinned the rest in place. To flatten the knot, he applied a hair net, which was removed before the show, and set it with Elastic Flexible Hairspray. To finish, he sprayed the whole head with Flatliner to reduce any frizz.

Also using Nars Cosmetics, Elisa Ferri added to the iridescent palette by painting the nails with a rose gold shade called Easy Walking.
