PARIS — For the woven hairstyle at the Alexander McQueen fashion show, Guido Palau gleaned inspiration from paganism, arts and crafts and straw dolls.

“I made the hair like straw and then started this sort of basket-weaving technique, so it’s like an old-fashion [method],” he said, noting that he used Redken products.

Makeup artist Peter Philips said the goal was to portray a “pure, beautiful girl. …We didn’t want to go for spectacular. It’s all about creating radiance coming from the inside.”
