PARIS — Hair and makeup looks at Giorgio Armani Privé took a cue from the brand’s fall 2012 couture collection, which in turn gleaned inspiration from natural light between dawn and dusk.

Makeup artist Linda Cantello conceived for models a straight brow that blended into the hairline. “It’s kind of medium-toned, between black and gray. It’s not a smoky eye at all,” she said backstage before the fashion show on Tuesday. “It’s a wash of gray.”

A bit of black in lids’ inside corners was applied, and then mascara was brushed on top lashes, Cantello said. Skin was left pale and lips were made matte and brushed with lavender-gray powder.

Hairstylist Franco Gobbi created glossy waves, which were bound back and swirled into a bun-like form with one swath left loose.

“It’s kind of ocean waves” is how he described the undulations, adding the idea was to have light play off them.
