DUSSELDORF — Aloys J. Schmeken has been named chief executive officer of Henkel Cosmetics GmbH, the cosmetics and toiletries division of the German household products giant, which is based here.
He succeeds Paul Wentholt, who resigned.
Schmeken, 51, was the sales director of the division. He has been with the company in various posts since 1971.
Henkel said the appointment of a former sales executive as ceo underscores the company’s desire to strengthen ties with retailers.
With annual beauty sales of some $816 million (1.5 bil-ion DM at current exchange rates), Henkel makes Poly hair-coloring products and the Fa body care line.
