NEW YORK -- Lawrence Appel, who helped found Escada Beaute Ltd. here in 1990 as a fragrance subsidiary of the German fashion house, has left the firm following a board meeting Friday.
Claude Palatin, who's been president of Escada Beaute SARL in Paris, heads the European and American operations, said Betsy Olum, vice president of marketing and creative worldwide. Both firms are subsidiaries of Escada Beaute GmbH, a holding company attached to the Munich-based Escada fashion house.
The New York firm was established to create and market products in the Western Hemisphere; the Paris operation marketed product in Europe and Asia.
Olum said she and other New York-based executives will now report to Palatin in Paris.
"They decided to have just one president worldwide," she said of the board's action.
