NEW YORK — Pop superstar Ariana Grande hopes for big things from her first fragrance.

The Grammy-nominated singer and actress signed a deal with Luxe Brands for a scent to launch in department and specialty stores in September. She becomes the latest pop performer to enter the fragrance arena.

“I have always been obsessed with perfume. I always carried like six different scents in my bag, another three in my suitcase and another couple in my car,” said Grande in a statement. “I’m asked so often about which fragrance I’m wearing, or if I have a signature scent. I do have favorites, but I really want to create something that encompasses everything I love…which is why I am so excited to create my personal fragrance I can call my own.”

The soulful singer, also known for her fashion style, said fans encouraged her to enter the fray. She has more than 24 million Facebook and Twitter followers with another 25 million following her on Instagram.

Within less than a year, Grande captured the number-one spot on the Billboard Top 200 twice, first for her debut album “Yours Truly” in 2013 and then for the follow up “My Everything” in 2014. She began her career on Broadway in “13,” the musical, before becoming a tween sensation on Nickelodeon’s “Victorious.” She recently performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, The Grammys, “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
