The Avon Foundation held its eighth annual awards celebration Tuesday evening, to recognize those who have contributed to the fight against breast cancer and domestic violence.
The event, called The Hope Honors, featured appearances by spokespeople for the beauty firm, including Patrick and Jillian Dempsey, Lauren Conrad, Cynthia Rowley and Suze Orman, as well as a performance by Jordin Sparks.
The Dempseys received the Avon Foundation Safety Net award at the soiree, which raised $1.6 million this year, and a $500,000 grant was awarded to the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center.
“We’ve come together at a time when we’re even prouder of being part of a company that can give back in this way, especially since these are such turbulent times for the world,” said Andrea Jung, chairman and chief executive officer of Avon Products Inc. “Leaders have to be role models more than ever now in terms of the community.”
Since its inception in 2001, the Avon Foundation Awards Celebration has raised $15.6 million.
