An urban girl with a touch of Asian influence inspired 3.1 Phillip Lim’s fall 2011 collection, as well as the beauty look. Odile Gilbert for Kérastase went for a “Shogun” look, she said, by pulling a section of hair back at the top, fastening it in an elastic and then leaving some of the hair out to make a fan. The rest was made into waves with Hot Tools Gold 3 Barrel Waver Spring Iron. Gilbert used Kérastase’s Ciment Thermique, Double Force Controle Ultime Extra Hold Hair Spray, Chroma Cristal and Elixir Ultime to get the look. Makeup, by Lisa Butler for NARS, aimed to reflect the motion and vibration of a girl riding her bike through the city. Eyes were the focus, with lots of layers of emerald greens from the Delphes trio 2011 fall eye shadow palette and cool blues from the Cap Ferrat trio 2011 summer palette. Rue de Rivoli Green Metallic Larger Than Life Longwear Eyeliner lined eyes. Lips were kissed with a sheer nude lipstick, Pago Pago, also new for fall. Nails, by CND, wore a nude color (Desert Suede) with a dab of dark blue (Midnight Sapphire) painted on nail moons.

For @massimogiorgetti of @msgm, the Nineties are his favorite decade. “They had a huge impact on my personal growth. What I like of the Nineties is that they are not so precise in terms of style as other decades…there was actually a bit of everything,” he said. As seen on MSGM’s Spring 2018 show: tie-dye and a bit of grunge, two styles that are synonymous with the decade #wwdfashion #wwddecades (📷: @kukukuba)

He went on to reinvent and ignite the house of Yves Saint Laurent, which he rechristened Saint Laurent, between 2012 and 2016 – all the while maintaining a close relationship with the Arnault family, which controls LVMH and Dior. “Personally I believe the Eighties have been the richest and more vivacious period for international fashion,” Giorgio Armani said when asked what his favorite decade of fashion is. It was a moment of disruption and experimentation and only thinking back to the first years of that decade is always an emotion for me, for what they have meant to me and my work.” The influence is clear in @giorgioarmani spring 2018 collection, pictured here, which was full of bright colors and unexpected prints.
