MILAN — At Alberta Ferretti, makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds, working with MAC Cosmetics, said the look was “all about a subtle flutter of lash.”
He affixed some faux lashes to the outer edge of models’ eyes to create what he described as a “playful flick.” Simmonds blended a charcoal brown and blush taupe on their eyelids toward the eyebrows and applied black mascara to upper lashes. An expressive (“not too strong”) brow was made to match hair color. Meanwhile, lips were painted pink with Au Naturale and Style Apparent hues from MAC’s Fall ’13 Forecast Lips Palette. Mineralize Charge Water, Face and Body Foundation and Moister Cover Concealer were applied to skin, and for highlights, Simmonds brushed on the silvery Oyster color from the Fall ’13 Forecast Eye Palette.
On nails, Keri Blair, senior artist for MAC Cosmetics, created a custom-made earth tone by adding a pinch of Vanilla pigment to Delicate Nail Lacquer in Coffee Break for what she called a “clean, polished and luxurious nail with a bit of sweetness.” A topcoat was added for shine.
Using Redken products, hairstylist Guido Palau conceived a romantic look that was toughened up and modernized with volume and texture. Full Frame 07 was added to models’ wet hair, which was then half-dried. A French twist was crafted and pinned to the back of heads and set with Control Addict 28 hairspray.
“If I didn’t put any product in the hair, it would look soft and pretty, but the product gives it a more modern, eveningwear look,” said Palau.
