“The key word is effortless,” said makeup artist Charlotte Willer, working with Maybelline, at the BCBGMaxAzria show Friday morning. “It’s supernatural,” she said describing the unfussy, fresh look.
Some models went without foundation. On those who needed some, Willer applied light foundation. Eyebrows were groomed, in some cases filled in a touch. She softly offset cheeks with Maybelline Mineral Power Illuminator in Pink and applied Color Sensational Lipstain a neutral pink hue, In the Buff.
On eyes, she used the only shimmering beige shade from the palette Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow in Green with Envy. The look was inspired by the simplicity of the clothes. “Life is complicated enough,” said Willer.
Hair was equally simple. Hairstylist Neil Moodie for Neil Moodie for Bumble and bumble created a sleek pony tail, and began by spritzing damp hair with Bb Tonic Lotion and than blow-drying the hair straight, using a flat brush from Mason Pearson. He then gathered and tied hair at the nape of the neck. “No hair hair spray, no nothing,” Moodie emphasized. “The look is virginal with a very pure feeling about it.” Before the models march down the runway, “we’ll release a few flyaways. We tried the hair up, but it was too fussy,” he said.
