It was all about pretty and in control for the beauty looks at the Carolina Herrera show, starting with the polished horizontal bun created by Orlando Pita, working for Moroccanoil. “I’ve seen messy updos in the spotlight for a while, but I am moving away from them,” said Pita. “I wanted this hair to look special and different, and also emphasize the high necks on Carolina’s designs this season.” Pita started by blow-drying the hair straight with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream and a round brush. Next, he created a low side part, pulling hair back and letting one side sweep across the side of the face to make a small ponytail in back. “I let strands hang down, then lifted them up, through and down, and attached it with pins at the fold. It looks tucked in, almost like an envelope.” Pita finished the look with a spritz of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray.
Diane Kendal, working for MAC Cosmetics at the show, prepped skin with a light wash of foundation, adding a touch of Angel blush, a pale pink, to the tops of the cheekbones. She next used MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara on upper lashes only, adding black cream liner in a cat’s-eye shape with a slight kick at the outer corner. Lips were finished with Prince Noir, a deep ruby, which Kendal applied with a lip brush and blotted with a tissue for a deep stain effect.
CND’s Jan Arnold went for a jewel tone on the nails, using Dark Ruby, a deep red, and topping it with Super Shiny Top Coat. “It’s a contrast to the collection,” said Arnold. “There are lots of matte jewel tones in the line, so we wanted to play off of that a bit.”
