Orlando Pita, for Phyto and T3 for Beauty.com, was inspired by von Furstenberg’s “rendezvous” theme for the hair he created at the designer’s fall showing. “It’s about the mystery and expectation of a rendezvous as apposed to a meeting,” said Pita, who created a sleek, tight updo based off a low ponytail. “It’s very angular,” said the lead stylist. “It plays off the shiny textures in the clothes.” Pita first dried hair with a T3 Featherweight Hair Dryer, then slicked hair into a side part, using Phyto Professional Wet Gel. He then twisted the hair in the ponytail and tucked the ends into a bun, adding Phytolisse Finishing Serum for sheen. “In the end, it is simple, graphic and sleek,” said Pita, who finished things off with Phytolaque Soie. “This is a confident, strong, secure woman.”

Making faces for DVF’s fall collection was James Kaliardos for MAC, who created a “very natural” completion with the help of MAC Mineralize Moisture Gel, Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation and two new products for Fall 2012 — Pro Conceal and Correct Palette and Pure Sculpture Pro Sculpting Cream. “It’s very Thirties-inspired,” said Kaliardos, whose look was also a nod to “YSL, Schiaparelli and surrealism.” To echo the feeling of mystery, Kaliardos created a silvery-smoky eye with Smolder Eye Kohl and Grey Utility Powerpoint Eye Pencil mixed together and blended through the lashes and waterline. Linger Softly Pro Longwear Eye Shadow, new for Fall 2012, was used to set and diffuse the shade created by the pencils. A bit of MAC Pro Gloss Texture and Blooz Kohl were mixed together and added to eyelids for shine. To define the lash line, Pro Black Chromaline was used and things were finished with a few coats of Black Fix Studio Fix Lash. On lips, Kaliardos used Lip Conditioner SPF 15 to hydrate and “dotted on” Soar Lip Pencil, for a “blush of color.”
