Helmut Newton photos inspired the elegant hair and makeup looks at Jason Wu’s spring show.
Odile Gilbert, working for Kérastase Paris, created an intricate braided chignon for the hair. She began by creating a long, deep part and sectioning off the hair into two sections, one in front and one in back. After spraying each section lightly with Double Force Hair Spray, Gilbert took the section at the back of the head and created an African braid, setting it with Double Force Hair Spray and tucking the end of the braid underneath to create a chignon. Gilbert then slicked back one side of the front of the head with Elixir Ultime Rose Millenaire for a chic, strong effect, and created a single finger wave on the other side of the part, also slicking back with Elixir Ultime Rose Millenaire for shine and texture. Gilbert then sprayed the entire head with Double Force Control Ultime Hair Spray to hold the style.
Diane Kendal, working with MAC Cosmetics at the show, made a multishade red lip the center of focus for the face. After skin-care expert Sunday Riley cleansed the face and used an antiredness product she will launch later this year, Kendal applied a light layer of foundation to perfect skin, then added taupe Sculpt contour by MAC under cheekbones and in the crease of the eyelids. Next, she used Poised, a pale pink blush, to emphasize cheekbones. Kendal topped the Sculpt on the eyelids with Golden Lemon Pigment, curled lashes and added Haute and Naughty Black mascara and finished with a light application of black eyeliner. Kendal used MAC Cherry Red lip pencil all over the lip, outlining the lip with Vino Lip Pencil. Next, she added MAC’s Lady at Play and Lush Life lip colors, topping that with Process Magenta Lip Mix for a high-definition look.
