For Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture show in Paris Wednesday, models sported actual turbans made of cloth, or turbanlike, sculptural looping hair, whose design hairstylist Odile Gilbert conceived.

Makeup artist Tom Pecheux said the color cosmetics look included a twist on iconic touches. He explained the red lips could be reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe; the heavy eyebrows, a nod to Madonna, and the false eyelashes, evocative of Greta Garbo.
