PARIS — “Jean Paul said ‘Brits in space,’” said makeup artist Lloyd Simmons, before the Jean Paul Gaultier show.

That parlayed into “sort of couture punk eyeliner and a defined brow – all of it pulled up, which gives that sort of [Nyota] Uhura kind of space-y thing,” said Simmons, referring to the “Star Trek” character.

Coifs had a Space Age quality, too. Hairstylist Guido Palau used as the main look a tightly twisted, lacquered, “very sculptured” chignon.

Working with Redken, his key products included Hardwear 23 and a tad of the All Soft Argan-6 Oil.
