At Marc Jacobs, François Nars, founder and creative director of the brand which bears his name, created an Edie Sedgwick-inspired look with a modern twist. “Marc and I looked at pictures of Edie and talked about how we could make it modern and chic,” he noted. Nars started by applying Sheer Glow Foundation, Radiant Creamy Concealer and Light Reflecting Setting Powder – Pressed for a perfect canvas of glowy skin. Next, he turned his attention to the eyes, the look’s focal point. After using three eye shadow duos — Pandora, Portobello and Key Largo — on the lids and browbone, Nars added Mambo Eyeliner Pencil and Via Veneto Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner for a sexy cat-eye effect, strengthening brows with either Bali or Bengali eye shadow, depending on the model’s skin tone. Nars finished the eyes with a generous application of Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara and Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara. Lips were kept a subtle baby pink, using Floralies Satin Lip Pencil – Pressed.
Guido Palau, working with Redken at the show, also took inspiration from Sedgwick. “I wanted to do a subtle bump —not Amy Winehouse, but something a little less extreme,” he said. “It’s almost a slept-in look.” Palau prepped hair with Redken’s Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam, then did a deep side part and swept hair across the head and applied Redken’s Quick Tease 15. He finished by gathering hair into a ponytail at the nape of the neck.
