Backstage at Milly on Wednesday, the beauty look was inspired by a girl on the go. Hairstylist Kevin Ryan of RSession Tools said, “There’s a sense of urgency to it.”
He began by prepping the hair with powder to give it a dry texture and a little cream for “dampness.” He then pulled hair back into a high ponytail, using an elastic to fasten the ends as well as to give the easy look some staying power. “That way, it won’t fall apart when you sneeze,” he said. Next, Ryan worked the hair into a knot, without too much twisting, and pinned it in place.
For the face, Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com, using Kevyn Aucoin products, went for a sporty, cool-girl look.
She worked Sensual Skin Enhancer into the skin where needed, and applied Taupey Grey eye shadow under the eyes. Then she pressed Joanna Vargas Rejuvenating Serum into the skin for a “just out of the steam room” effect. On lips, she applied a lip pencil in red called Cerise just to the inside of the mouth.
Next, she took a fluffy eyeshadow brush and applied Fira blush to the rest of the lips, creating an intense, velvety red pout. “I love to do this technique on [photo] shoots to give the lips intense color.” For the eyes, she left lashes bare and applied a gel moisturizer to the lids. She used a brow pencil where needed, and combed brows upward. Before the models walked the runway, she spritzed skin with Caudalie Organic Grape Water.
Manicurist Katie Jane Hughes for Butter London painted a half-moon shape on the nail bed, using the shade Cotton Buds, and filled in the rest with flesh-tone color.
