Faces at Nicole Miller’s fall showcase were given a blend of classic beauty and rock ’n’ roll edge thanks to a cool, graphic eye.
“She’s soft but still graphic,” said MAC lead makeup artist James Kaliardos about the girl behind the beauty look. Kaliardos created a diffused smoky eye with MAC shades Keep Your Cool and Lady Gray. “I’m dipping a Q-tip in makeup remover and erasing the shadow a bit on top — shaping it into a horizontal edge,” said Kaliardos. Cheeks were given a “peachy beige” flush thanks to MAC Cream Blush in Accentuate. Black mascara was added to the top lashes and no eyeliner was used. “It’s soft and chic,” said Kaliardos. “A mix of hard edges and soft, feminine glow.”
Lead hairstylist Kevin Ryan, for Rsession Tools, evoked a girl who looked as if she’d been “out dancing all night at a club until 2 a.m.,” using Tigi Shine Spray to create shiny roots and a blow dryer to dry the ends. “Every generation has a girl like this,” said Ryan. “It’s modern rock — like she’s been at a concert all night.”
