Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman did what he called a “very un-Tommy” look — “all down, but raw” — backstage prior to the Tommy Hilfiger women’s fashion show Sunday evening.
Working on behalf of Wella Professional, he used the brand’s Ocean Spritz Dry and Beach Texture sprays. He hit the roots with a blow-dryer and vigorously roughed up the hair with his fingers for texture.
His inspiration was anything but “straight-natural-American-healthy-Brooke Shields.” Instead, he said, “I think we needed to do something cooler. The girls don’t look so commercial. It’s about looking imperfect, wild, freer.”
Meanwhile, makeup artist Diane Kendal did a natural lip, flush cheeks and a flash of copper gloss on the eyelids for MAC Cosmetics. She also used a taupe cream eye shadow. The idea, she said, was “to play with light a little. It’s clean and pretty.”
