North Africa set the stage for the Tribune Standard collection. Uzo, lead makeup artist for Nars, concentrated on creating a strong metallic eye with an emphasis on the eyelid. Uzo used Nars Cream shadow in Savage, mixed with Key Largo and blended with a gold eye shadow shade. To offset the intensity of the eyes, Uzo applied Nars tangerine blush in Gina and mixed a velvet matte pencil in Belle Du Jour with Honolulu Honey for the lips.
Richard Kavanagh, lead hairstylist for Cutler/Redken, wanted to reference the North African, tribal-influenced gold ropes that were prominent throughout the designer’s mood board. Kavanagh created a two-strand rope braid using hair extensions to add bulk. “I wanted to have a center part and a low chic bun,” said Kavanagh. “I wanted it to feel like North African royalty.” Kavanagh used Redken’s Rootful 06 Roof Lifting Spray to hold the ropes together and Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray to clean and polish the hair. He topped it off with gold hair dye at the top of the two-strand cornrows.
Nails were finished with Nars Versailles.
