"A natural tomboy from a Thirties, wartime photograph" was the theme behind the beauty look at the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show.

Using MAC Cosmetics, Val Garland’s focus was creating a "tea-stained complexion’’ full of sepia and caramel shades smudged on eyes, cheeks and lips.

Heightening the tough-chic look were hand drawn symbols on hands, nails and necks. "Our girls are definitely in a gang," Garland said.

Hairstylist Samantha Hillerby further enhanced this boyish feel with a textured updo, which she further roughed up by applying L'Oréal’s Tecni.Art A-head C lay.
