The look was back to the Eighties at Milly by Michelle Smith on Wednesday afternoon. Key hairstylist Kevin Ryan created a side ponytail with huge black tulle bows — “Probably only looks good when you’re young,” he said with a laugh. “It’s a lively, girly look.” To create it, he added lots of Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray for “a crunchy feel,” then swept hair from one side of the head to the other, securing with bungee hair cords and a few pins. He then tied a large black tulle bow on each ponytail.

Romy Soleimani, working with MAC Cosmetics at the show, did an “Eighties-meets-Sixties” theme at the show. “It’s a subtle nod to both decades,” she said. Soleimani added bronzer all over the face, adding a new pale gold MAC Crushed Metal — a cross between a pigment and a glitter — to the upper part of the cheekbones for highlights. Next, she added tons of black mascara on both the top and bottom lashes, finishing the face with a swipe of clear balm on the lips.

Roxanne Valinoti, working with CND at the show, finished the nails with Marshmallow Rose, a sheer wash of rose. “We wanted it to look like a natural nail, only better,” she said.
