“This season’s girl is the new royalty,” said Kristin Gallegos, lead artist for MAC Cosmetics, who channeled Kate Middleton’s easy glamour. “She’s young and cool,” Gallegos said.
To create a modern variation on the classic smoky eye, Gallegos layered MAC Cream Shadow in Smother with ProLongwear shadows in Keep Your Cool and Carbon. “By layering, we end up with this cool slaty-blue gray eye,” said Gallegos. Mascara was added to both top and bottom lashes and Gallegos used a pale yellow pencil on the water line to “open up the eye.” Brows were lightly defined with eye shadow. Gallegos used concealer on faces “only where needed” and on lips to “take down their natural tone.” “It’s a gorgeous young face,” she said.
Bumble and bumble’s lead stylist, Laurent Philippon, referenced Black Swan in his elegant, ballerinalike updo. “We are putting in a very pin-straight center part to keep it very graphic,” said Philippon, who then “loaded hair” with Bumble Does It All Styling Spray to “tame down all baby hairs and flyways.” “It’s a very clean look,” said Philippon. Hair was pulled back tightly into a ponytail, then twisted into a neat bun. For extra shine, Philippon added a good amount of Spray di Mode throughout the style. Nails, done by Sally Hansen, were short, square and shiny, painted in a deep, almost-onyx shade, Pat on the Black.
