International Cosmetics & Perfumes Sales Hit $4M in Qtr.

NEW YORK — International Cosmetics & Perfumes Inc., which markets the Hanae Mori, Creed and Beauty by Clinica Ivo Pitanguy brands in the U.S., said it experienced record growth in the fourth quarter ended June 30, thanks to new products, strength in the luxury segment and wider retail distribution of its brands.

Fourth-quarter sales reached $4 million, up more than 10 percent from a year ago. Sales of the Beauty by Clinica Ivo Pitanguy brand were up by double digits, according to the company, while Hanae Mori Parfums sales were up by 5 percent and sales of Creed fragrances also grew.

"Creed is becoming half of our business in the U.S.," Emmanuel Saujet, chief executive officer of ICP, said in an interview Friday.

The Creed and Hanae Mori brands each generate about 46 percent of ICP's business, while Beauty by Clinica Ivo Pitanguy garners about 8 percent of the business. Hanae Mori's distribution base is the largest among the trio of brands, with 270 department store doors.

"Sales and revenue results for all brands were extraordinarily positive, with some seeing double-digit percentage gains in the period," Saujet said in a statement. "Strong results in 12 years of operation now position ICP to acquire strategically, and we will be examining opportunities to do that." He declined to identify specific acquisition targets, but added that any acquisitions would be accretive to earnings.

David Gandy Heats Up La Rinascente

MILAN — Dolce & Gabbana steamed up La Rinascente's flagship here with an appearance by model David Gandy, who is clad in skimpy white swim trunks in the ad campaign for the fashion house's Light Blue Pour Homme fragrance.

Gandy arrived amid a crowd of hundreds outside the store, and spent an hour on La Rinascente's ground floor signing bottles of the scent earlier this month.

In an interview before his La Rinascente appearance, Gandy said starring in Light Blue Pour Homme's ad campaign was among his career highlights. The television spot was directed by photographer Mario Testino and filmed off the island of Capri earlier this year.
